Fort Casey
07/21/2004
I fished Fort Casey state park yesterday. Not to much to report, I arrived after the high tide changed. I used the usually Casey killer, a fresh herring under a float. Lot's of bait in the area. I even saw a school of dog shark working a bait ball. After fishing for a few hours I finally hit a silver of about 4-6 lbs, due to a reel malfunction I didn't get to give him a real good hook set. This allowed him to thow the barbless hooks at my feet. I was going to release him anyways . The diving birds where a real pain in the butt. I hooked and landed three of them! And believe me they don't like to be brought in. These birds managed to put up a good fight and kept pecking and scratching while I was trying to get the hooks off of them. One got hold of the back of my hand and would not let go! I finally gave up and went to lagoon point and tried for a few minutes but the wind was up making it hard to fish. Oh well......
